For women's history month, I wanted to shout out a woman who has helped change their sport in a positive way!
So today I want to talk about Venus Williams.

Venus is a world-class tennis player who fought for equal pay at Wimbledon
**Spoiler alert, she worked her ass off and got equal pay at Wimbledon**
Venus first started her equal pay fight at age 18 in 1998. This was at Wimbledon.
In 2005 she met with the French officials right before the French Open.
In 2006 she wrote an op-ed in the Times of London talking about how Wimbledon treated her like a second class champion and how she and all the other women tennis players deserved equal pay to the men.
Then in 2007 after talking and advocating for years, she won Wimbledon for the fourth time and was awarded equal prize money.
Although Venus Williams today isn't the star she once was, she is still playing tennis and making to the biggest stage.
she has also inspired millions of younger generations and has paved the way for black women in tennis.
In her career she has won 7 grand slams and 14 doubles grand slams with her sister Serena.
She has also started her own beauty company EleVen by Venus https://elevenbyvenuswilliams.com/
